Selling Organs (Example)

Document Preview:

1. What ethical issues are being debated in the podcast? The ethical issues being discussed in the podcast is whether selling of organs should be made legal as it is beneficial to the sick and also to the donors who need money. 2. What ethical arguments does Janet Radcliffe-Richards make? She proposes that there are people who are in a position to donate their organs to the individuals in need in exchange for money. She argues that people are already doing it illegally so why not just legalize the vice? She even gives an example of a poor village in Pakistan where almost half the residents have sold one of their ensure proper handling of the organs as well as standardized prices to eliminate the exploitation incidents. Therefore legalizing the selling of organs is ethical as it provides a solution for both parties. The people needing money would benefit from selling their organs whereas the people with money and requiring a body part would gain from buying it. It is actually a humanitarian deed if you ask me as both parties would benefit from each other and fewer deaths will be experienced due to lack of organs. Thank you. Order Description:

Overview Should people be able to sell their own organs? For this Project, you will listen to a podcast and consider two different perspectives on this issue. After analyzing both sides, you will then “call in” to the podcast to express your own views. Directions In order to prepare for your “call” to the podcast, familiarize yourself with what ethics is and how people approach ethical arguments. Then listen to the Ethics Bites podcast. Pay special attention to the arguments that are being made and analyze them using the Organizer provided. If necessary, listen multiple times to make sure you fully understand both sides. Decide which position you will take on the topic of whether or not it should be legal for people to sell their organs. Next, create a 2- to 3-minute audio script in which you “call in” to the podcast to present your argument on whether or not it should be legal for people to sell their organs. Be sure to support your position using your analyses from the Organizer. 1)ctl.utsc.utoronto.ca 2)www.open.edu 3)https://www.scu.edu/ethics/ethics-resources/ethical-decision-making/a-framework-for-ethical-decision-making/
