This, therefore, means that with the increasing lifestyle demands, the impacts of unemployment may have become adverse or on the contrary, well managed by individuals. This is why this study will entail research on the psychological impacts of unemployment. Statement of Problem As mentioned in the introduction, the problem under study in this proposal in the psychological impact of unemployment. The intention to study this problem is driven and motivated by the threatening concept of the robot economy (Brown & McMullen, 2017). A robot economy is whereby the business processes undergo automation such that the tasks that human being have previously been doing are replaced by the automating machines; the robots. Moreover, previous studies have been conducted on this particular problem. Therefore, partially, the study will entail providing new perspectives and theories that have evolved.

This will be providing a new and advanced research results that take care of the changing lifestyle and economic dynamics. To validate previous studies, it requires an individual with an advanced level of understanding of the field; which makes this research worthy of a doctorate level. Purpose Statement The purpose of this research is to investigate the possible psychological impacts that unemployment can have on various individuals in an advanced economy such as the United States. Marie Conroy is one of the researchers that has undertaken specifically this topic of unemployment and its related psychological impacts. However, Marie takes from a two-dimensional approach such that she covers not only the psychological aspects of unemployment but also the financial challenges that individuals face after losing their job or due to unemployment.

Her study is well-structured with the choice of the various research techniques as well as the sample population that she applies. Population sample In her choice of the study population sample, Marie used the purposive sampling method whereby she established a good correspondence with the study subjects. The study started by recruiting 7 participants but one participant opted out leaving the sample size for the research to be six people (Conroy, 2010). The interviews entailed face-to-face conversation with the participants where the covered topics entailed the participants’ demographics, the psychological well-being, the prospected aspirations, their relationships, as well as material well-being (Conroy, 2010). Data analysis was done through the transcription of the recorded interviews and well as coding of the same. Coding entailed identification and categorization of the various interview recordings into themes which they were analyzed according to their frequency of their reoccurrences (Conroy, 2010).
