This way, they are classified into micro-level and macro-level theories. Micro-level theories explain the social occurrences at the individual level while macro-level theories are concerned with a large group of people. Some of the theoretical perspectives that have been developed include the conflict, feminism, functionalism, and the symbolic interactionism. This paper attempts to discuss these perspectives in terms of how they view an individual and the society at large. Functionalism visualizes the society as a composition of various aspects that are designed to cater for the social needs of the individuals in that society. This way, it sights the individuals as active partakers in the societal changes rather than being acted upon by these changes (Collins 2010). One-on-one interactions among the individuals in the society play a part in creating a reality, that is, what these individuals believe to exist.
