The Structure of the Assignment – A Persuasive/Argumentation Essay Many of us assume that during our lifetimes, we will experience growth on an individual level, and for the most part, this growth will contribute to the improvement of our lives. By extension, we want the community we live in to be a supportive environment that fosters our individual growth. In order to accomplish this, we must advocate for changes during different periods in our lives, and at times, advocate for changes in our society so that we experience the optimal growth possible for promoting innovation and change. Technology has infiltrated our lives to the extent that our daily routines incorporate some aspect of technology as an integral part of our lives. Opportunities for improving our lives with technology also exist; however, the nature of technological advances also offers opportunities for exploitation and abuse. For this assignment, you will be writing an essay identifying a problem that we need to address, both as individuals and as a society, with regard to some aspect of technology, and by extension, its impact on our society, and offering solutions/or a resolution to the problem. Once you have identified an area of change, established your viewpoint/position on the topic, and formulated ideas in support of your position, use material from up to six outside sources from the library databases as well as one source from one of the five essays we have read to support your ideas. When choosing the topic (problem) for this essay, please confine your choice to the topics examined in the essays we read in class - primarily the impact of technology on our lives. Consider the lengths we are prepared to ensure that we experience growth – in our professional and personal lives – and identify areas of improvement we can address. Some sample topic ideas include cyber bullying, cyber dating, video game addiction, a consumer culture that uses technology devices as status symbols, protecting ourselves from cyber attacks, the benefits of being able to communicate on a global level, encouraging people to educate themselves with the vast information available, encouraging global connections, both business and personal or others you might consider relevant. Introduction: The introduction for this essay should introduce the reader to the topic (the problem you have identified) and your perspective on the topic (thesis). Once you have established the content introducing your readers to the discussion, provide a thesis that establishes the controlling idea for the essay. Do not use outside source material in the introduction, as this is your opportunity to express your perspective on this topic. Readers are interested in your viewpoint without reference to another’s at this stage. Body Paragraphs: Each body paragraph for the essay (ideally, three body paragraphs) should each contain one topic sentence expressing an idea/reason in support of your thesis, an explanation and discussion of that idea, numerous and varied illustrations/examples from sources to support that idea, and a concluding sentence to provide closure for the paragraph. The idea of a body paragraph is to generate a discussion of a point in support of your thesis statement and elaborate on it. Be sure to establish the point early in each paragraph and show connections between the topic idea you are discussing and the thesis idea which controls the content of your essay. At this point, you are also integrating outside source material into the discussion. When choosing material to include, analyze for relevance in connection with the point you are making in each topic sentence and use outside source material specifically, to support your point, and sparingly, so as not to overshadow your point. Refutation Paragraph: The intent of an argument/persuasive essay is not to trounce an opponent; instead, the intent is to express an opinion/viewpoint and logically defend it. The refutation paragraph acknowledges that others might disagree with your position on this issue, so it serves the purpose of acknowledging and addressing potential opposing arguments for your position. This indicates that you have taken a balanced approach to the argument itself, by asserting your opinion even while considering others’ viewpoints. In an academic community, and indeed in our daily lives, we learn by listening to others and also by listening to ourselves. Conclusion: The conclusion of the essay provides information you choose to leave the reader with. In your conclusion, provide comprehensive material that evaluates all aspects of the opinion you have just argued. Leave the reader with a thoughtful, provocative understanding of your point of view of this particular issue. General Requirements The argumentation essay should be a minimum of eight–ten (8-10) pages, should follow appropriate MLA citation guidelines, and should include a Works Cited page. ** The Works Cited page does not count as one of the minimum pages. Please integrate source material from up to six outside sources from the library databases as well as one source from one of the five essays we have read. Please adhere to the following guidelines when submitting all major writing assignments. Use one-inch margins - left, right, top, bottom Double-space the entire document Use 10 or 12 CPI Use the page numbering function in your word processing programming to insert your last name and the page number in the upper right corner of the essay. Beginning at the left margin, on the first page, provide your name, the course and section, the instructor's name, and the date. Center the title of the essay. Use the tab key to indent the first line of each paragraph. Please do not use 1st person singular pronouns (I, me, my) or 2nd person pronouns (you, yours). Instead, use 1st person plural (we, us) or 3rd person (he, she it, they, them, their). Do not use personal experience(s).

I needed my 6 page paper done in 9 hours and SHE GOT IT DONE IN FIVE. This wasn't even a short and sloppy essay either. It was well organized and made perfect sense.
