Our case scenario involves a family unit where the father left the mother who was mentally ill with her two young daughter. One of the daughter is into drugs and the other one helps to support her mother. To understand this link better it is imperative to know what a family structure is all about. A family structure comprises of the people who are deliberated as a part of the family, who are important figures as well as present members from the past and the eminence of the connection or relationship amongst them. Families can also be defined as the prime, “agency of social service in meeting the healthcare, social and educational necessities” (Payne, 2015). The strength tactics utilizes the ideas of resilience and the family as environment to aid families in their significant responsibilities.

The strength concept shoulders a basic assumption of the approach of strength (Hepworth, Rooney & Strom-Gottfried 2016). In accordance with humanistic methods to social work is that humans possess the ability for change and growth. Every individual has a range of experiences, roles and traits that donate to who that particular person really is. On the other hand families have rituals, traditions and the collective abilities of the member of the family (Hepworth, Rooney & Strom-Gottfried 2016). Each family unit has its own distinct method of making decisions on who possess the authority and power and what privileges, rights, roles and obligations are allocated to each and every member of the family (Hepworth, Rooney & Strom-Gottfried 2016). In most families especially the one mentioned above parents are the leaders of the family whereas the children are probable to obey their parent’s leadership.

But as these children grow up they will enquire for and undoubtedly should be permitted more independence and their views should be put to considerations when decisions are being delegated upon (Hepworth, Rooney & Strom-Gottfried 2016). Even though there might be difference of opinions and options and disagreements between the parents and the children, the parents should take initiative of advising their children at an early age through offering them morally upright advice that might shape and build their behaviors (Lee & Hudson, 2017). Also children should be taught about the family culture and the way they should coexist peacefully with their children. The central perceptions of system theory is the triangle which narrows down to parent-parent-child connection, surely the clients was feeling the absence of both of the parents physically for the father and for the mother emotionally and thus it contributed to emotional developments that are unhealthy.
