Jenny's class is quite diverse; there are some students with learning difficulties, a couple of academically very bright students, a couple of students with severe behaviour problems, one student with limited English language proficiency and two students who are on the Autism spectrum. The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, so the expectation is that teachers need to be knowledgeable and competent in terms of their inclusive practices; the school leadership team are very supportive of staff. What does having a strong inclusion ethos mean? Where does Jenny start in putting this inclusive ethos into practice? What supports is she likely to need? How does she begin to address the needs of those particular students identified above? Your paper should also include one lesson plan. This lesson plan should clearly show the accommodations Jenny might make to be inclusive of one of the diversities listed above. Please ensure all accommodations are clearly indicated (eg use bold, italics or colour etc). You may use an existing lesson plan as the basis for this modified lesson plan. Please note: You may wish to elaborate on the scenario presented above, for example, year level, school context, additional information about students etc. You will intentionally not be provided with a rubric for this paper; it is up to you how you organise and set out your paper. The use of headings/sub-headings is encouraged. Markers will be looking for papers that are clearly written, logical, coherent, well argued and demonstrate a good understanding of inclusion and course content. The word count for this assignment is based on the weighting and unit value; it is only a rough guide, but the upper limit is 3500 (includes the lesson plan). Assessment Criteria Good literacy is a requirement of most University courses. Marks will be deducted for consistent errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and referencing. Poor expression/literacy affects the quality of the paper and therefore the grade. Assessment of your assignment will also take into account: relevance of your answer to the question or task set insights into critical issues reference to and understanding of course content clarity of expression and reasoned argument supporting documentation/reference to the literature proper acknowledgement of references and use of correct referencing conventions logical planning and sequencing of information use of inclusive language overall presentation, including correct grammar, spelling and punctuation the Harvard style of referencing must be used
