Short-term actions The adequate supply of APN in a health facility should be maintained by adopting different short-term means. First, there is a need to attract nurses who are willing to work for the healthcare organizations instead of just a sign on bonus or paycheck. Sign on bonus serves as an incentive for attracting nurses to work in an HCO on a short-term basis (White & Griffith, 2010). Secondly, there is a need to ensure an adequate supply of APN by adopting creative perks such as the provision of programs that allow a balance between work and life to allow such experts to accommodate their needs. Such a strategy will help in retaining nurses as a way of addressing the national shortage. Such nurses get exhausted and tend to leave some issues unattended, exposing patients to a lot of risks.
