Airline Operation research (Powerpoint presentation)

It's important to understand how airlines can stay profitable, especially to survive in a struggling economy or during periods when fuel prices soar. We all know that the person sitting next to us on a flight probably paid a different fare than we did. Was it higher or lower? We may never know but understanding how airlines set fares can help us make sense of the battle between consumer and airline when it comes to purchasing tickets. When is the best time to purchase a ticket? Is there a website or app which can help us find the best price? Should I follow my own advice and never close the browser window when shopping for a fare? First, read the article, "How airlines set fares" by FlightFox (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Pay special attention to the three diagrams which show three different revenues for the same flight. Next, read the article and watch the embedded videos from CNN. You may need to click the pop up in the lower left of your screen to acknowledge the privacy policy prior to getting the video to play. I apologize in advance for the annoying commercials and hope the narrator, who seems to be vacationing in Las Vegas, doesn't irritate you too much. The information is good and the bucket demonstration is entertaining. Video - CNN's story on airline pricing secrets (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. What is your final project? Research: Imagine that you have been selected for an interview with your favorite airline. Congratulations! Now it's time to prepare. Conduct some research on this airline to help you seem knowledgeable in your interview. Perhaps you'll look up the organizational chart, review their annual report, read about their environmental policies, or put together a profile of their aircraft. One thing you do know...you will probably be asked for your input on setting fares or increasing customer loyalty. Design: Design a PowerPoint presentation which outlines some of your research. Show us what you believe is essential to know about the airline (please exclude Alaska Airlines). Finally, include at least one slide which provides at least one of your ideas for a fare setting strategy or plan to increase customer loyalty. Your slideshow should contain 7-10 slides. You will be graded on the quality and content of your work. Your presentation should include the following: -Cover slide including the name of the airline -Final slide citing at least three sources of information -A minimum of four slides addressing at least four of the following topics: history, leadership, fleet, environmental policies, customer service strategy, current challenges, safety, and/or major hubs. -Include a slide documenting your fare setting strategy or idea to improve customer loyalty -Your slideshow should look professional, with a clean design and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation You are cleared for takeoff! This assignment will not be accepted late. https://flightfox.com/tradecraft/how-do-airlines-set-prices
