Years ago nontraditional medicine was the only health practice prevailed among the cultures and communities. Currently, with the advancement in modern medicine, nontraditional healthcare is scaling down. Most of the health care needs are universal but are met differently in different regions. Some people look for health services according to the traditions of the place they were born in while others develop attitude and interest towards services as they grow up. There are different forms of health care practices globally that are exercised with the aim of improving life such as western medicine, traditional medicine, and complementary medicine (Micozzi, 2018). According to (Eisenberg, 1998), a study carried out by the Nationwide Government Survey of all the adult inhabitants of the U. S, it shows that they have used alternative medicine at some point in their lives.

Although it is mainly used for persons with chronic conditions the practices are also used by people with acute conditions who believe it is better than western medicine. Most people who practice real alternative medicine in this region have to think that western medicine does more harm than good. A significant percentage of the population, practices the form of therapy because they were born into families practicing the same and they followed the tradition(Elder, Gillcrist & Minz, 1997). The pet is trained to stay with the patient side that will divert the client’s attention from pain or emotional distress due to a chronic condition. There is also a group from the American culture who depend on prayers and meditation as a therapy (Harmon & Myers, 1999).

They may do it as individuals or as a group but with the sole purpose of meeting health care needs. The practice in the region is beneficial because the most significant percentage of it fits the therapeutic intentions, which is affordable, and it’s done out of will; thus there is compliance. However, some of the practices bound by religion interfere with general healthcare like in the cases of denying children immunization (Santoli, SziIagyi & Rodewald, 1998). The strategies employed by Chinese culture are beneficial since they have proven to give therapeutic results. However, they have caused harm to clients who have severe levels of conditions like high blood pressure that require to be supplemented with western medicine ( There are cases of patients who have suffered a stroke due to uncontrolled blood pressure levels while depending purely on nontraditional health care strategies) (Shi, et al.

Japanese culture is also famous in embracing the alternative medicine. The Japanese are well known for their judo martial arts, where the training is performed for both security and fitness purposes (Suzuki, 2004). Judo exercise can cause injuries that sometimes include fractures, since it includes vigorous activities. Another nontraditional ways of treatment are color therapy, which is found to be most effective in children (O'Connor, Zena, 2011). For instance, children in pain are distracted from concentrating on the pain they are experiencing using different color shinned in their rooms from different angles and intensity.
