Informal and formal communication is considered within an organization to motivate employees and to ensure that there is a constant monitoring of organizational activities. Fostering communication within an organization is important in establishing a collective approach towards solving organizational problems (Charlier et al. Communication is also important within a company as it contributes to the professional image of an organization. Management teams and leaders who exhibit proper communication are desirable as role models and as leaders. Granted, organizations prefer communication as it ensures that feedback systems are implemented within the company (Mikkelson et al. Communication strategies which incorporate listening understanding and speaking are equally important to assist our leadership the objectives. Effective communication is therefore made possible where a leader understands the knowledge level and the emotions of the receiver and is prepared effectively to communicate within the organization to foster understanding (Hsieh & Wang, 2015). Communication within an organization could include a confirmation on the understanding of the message that is provided. By implementing communication strategies, leaders are able to improve their listening abilities and to analyze the behavior, attitudes and the ideals of their team members. A leader could also conduct an on job training program for followers through a structured communication process. Communication in leadership is also regarded to be important in ensuring that a sense of discipline, work ethic and a sense of responsibility is achieved within the organization.

Communication is important as it enables leaders to clearly communicate their principles and to express to their employees that they are appreciated (Lisak & Erez, 2015). Communication in leadership allows the group of people being led to execute their tasks effortlessly as they are properly guided. Communication in leadership also incorporates proper listening skills to provide mentorship. Communication is also achieved in an organization by creating an environment of trust among employees. Communication in leadership therefore encourages employees and followers to improve trust among the stakeholders. Trust is created in an environment where values of integrity, reliability and clarity are clearly communicated. Communication therefore plays a significant role in building trust and generating an environment which enables leaders to perform their tasks efficiently to motivate employees to work towards goals (Weeks et al.

Encouragement is therefore one of the major tenants of leadership as it enables them to devise strategies according to the type of work that they are executing. Leadership styles are also defined by the intellectual levels adopted within an organization. Communication by intellectual leaders is done through communication to facilitate brainstorming sessions. Behavioral leadership style is also dependent on communication. A behavioral leader is one who believes that inspiration, accomplishment and the readiness to take accountability for responsibilities is important. This is challenging as it restricts the ability of a leader to convey instructions to their team. A lack of understanding of the intelligence levels and the culture of the audience is also a major limitation in the communication process (Raina & Roebuck, 2016).

If the leader is not able to assess their target audience to determine their cultural levels then there will be challenges in the communication process. At other times, inappropriate techniques and tools could be selected in conveying information. Where an organization decides to communicate to its factory workers through social media, the communication process could be impeded. Conclusion A leader needs to integrate communication in the leadership model to inspire team members and to ensure there is a sense of collaboration. Where there is communication in a company, it is possible for there to be a strong sense of collaboration by fostering an environment where team members are able to clearly communicate their ideas. Collaboration in an organization is also important in the creation of a positive work environment and in brainstorming sessions to formulate solutions for organizational problems.

A leader also needs to create an environment for communication to effectively and transparently convey their desires and their needs to team members.
