Reality therapy has become one of the widely used approaches to treatment. It focuses more on the client present relationships rather than the past experiences. The main aim of the reality therapy is to help clients build on their connections with others, develop a sense of belonging and it also makes them feel loved and appreciated. Reality therapy also allows patients to be aware of the choices they make and the consequences those choices have in limiting their success (Glasser, 1965). The therapist works with the patient to help them discover what they want and what they are doing to accomplish those goals, while evaluating whether what they are doing will help them achieve their goals and assisting the patient to plan how to change their behavior.

It is therefore crucial for the therapist to understand the client’s wants. This will require a close and an open relationship. Therapists must establish a friendly relationship with the patient to encourage openness. They should be genuine and be caring towards the clients. The client will be able to share the issues they have and the primary objective of undertaking the therapy. This process must be realistic. The set goals must be achieved. Therapists must be strict to ensure the client adheres to the plan. Application in a Multi-Cultural Setting According to William Glaser, the reality therapy applies to an individual and groups of people as long as they are suffering from psychological problems in any cultural environment. According to reality therapy, all human beings have the same basic needs.
