similarly, the author has given out his stand on the critique of W. E. B DUBOIS of racial accommodation. Additionally, it enlightened on the legacy for the failed civil rights movement which focused on bringing equity and fairness between the black Americans and white Americans in terms of policies governing them. Finally, the author brought into light how the legacy set the stage for the next one that did not hit the critical mass until almost 100 years later after the civil war. Civil war kicked on between the two states as they grew agonism over slavery. In due course, president Abraham Lincoln brought about reconstruction, emphasized on it for some years until he was assassinated in April 1865. Andrew Johnson took over the presidential position and focused with reconstruction too.

He truly found it hard to reconcile as fight kept on increasing until late in 1867 when he managed it. The southern state was greatly affected since the whole battle took place from there. besides abolishing slavery, repudiating secession and abrogating the confederate debt, these governments deserved a free will to manage and execute their will as well as their affairs. Andrew Johnson responsively appeared to be supporting Northern state by trying to bring in new rules against the Africans. Simply, he enforced black codes a law that focused at Americans signing an annual contract of labor provision. Meanwhile, he focused at limiting economic freedom by establishing new policies to enforce discipline in the plantation. Unfortunately, African American refuted on implementation of such policies as they disputed on Johnson’s support to Northern Americans supportive policies.

Some of the slaves regained freedom, however they had no property to start life. As a result, some of them resumed the plantation activities they used to do as slaves but for now they earned some income while others shared the crops with the plantation owners after working. Johnson was later impeached and Ulysses Grant was elected, inaugurated and proceeded with the presidency where the 15th amendment was approved by the congress in 1868. The amendment prevented racism on voting. In the course, the government decided to suppress political violence until the 1872 national was marked as the most peaceful. Washington had maintained that, Africans gives up on three things. Political power acquisition, emphasis on civil rights and on acquittance for the higher education.
