This ranged from dealing with the host’s internal organizational politics to a particularly welcoming government official who wanted a “handshake”-bribe to offer me his time. I learned that conducting my fieldwork effectively called for delicate handling of such situations. To overcome such awkward situations I began following a routine- I conducted meetings with government officials as a researcher than it could be quantified. In conclusion cooperating and partnering with the local actors such as the NGO’s and government officers who may not be part of the main research team favourably contributed to the success of our field research. It enabled us to gain access to places and databases we could otherwise not gained access. Therefore for an ethnographic researcher collaborating with the local actors effectively can add up to the success of the field research and potentially create a way for future research dissemination.
