In whatever responsibility assigned to these personnel, they rely mostly on their ability to communicate and motivate others (Healy, 2014). Some of the most important leadership skills ideal for any social worker include – first, communication which enables them to navigate the complex working environment as well as building a strong interpersonal relationships with the clients. The ideal aspects of communication are active listening and verbal communication (Healy, 2014). Second, transformational leadership has equally worked well for social workers. Through it, one will be able to make difficult decisions regarding the group, empower them and manage their personal needs that conflict against the interest of the team (Healy, 2014). & Corey C, 2013). To overcome such a situation, it is necessary to build members’ confidence through equal opportunities and platforms. Lastly, some members employ scapegoat tactics and direct their faults to other members. It can lead feeling of rejection and eventual destruction of the group. The counselors are expected to guide members on how to deal with their challenges through participatory engagement (Kafkova, 2015). Transition stage falls at the second level of treatment. At this point, members are anxious and can hardly share their experiences with strangers. In most cases, they tend to be afraid, defensive or withdrawn from the topic of discussion (Kafkova, 2015). Besides, the leaders might face attacks, belittling or unpleasant confrontations. However, as a leader and a professional worker, I will prioritize communication and interactive approach to help members appreciate why they needed to fully participate in every session.

For instance, I will need to involve a third party to monitor absenteeism by members. After breaking the silence, I will ensure the group moves to a working stage in which I would appoint a co-leader from the members. My candidate of choice would be Carol who had seemingly gained ownership of the treatment process. Q2: From my understanding of the group dynamics, the therapy process had changed from transition stage to a working stage. At this point, I would eliminate or maybe isolate those who are still not willing to adopt the experience. It is possible most of these people could still be facing clouded judgment and sobriety, but it must not be allowed to trip the group of its harmony.
