MLK non violence

Martin Luther King, Jr. said that “nonviolence demands that the means we use must be as pure as the ends we seek” in his Letter from Birmingham Jail. A major part of his campaign of civil disobedience in his quest for equal rights was purposefully and peacefully violating unjust laws to cause a dialogue to take place. The laws they broke were ones specifically targeted at preventing black Americans from experiencing freedom, like those restricting access to public spaces (such as having to ride in the back of the bus, sit in certain places in restaurants, use special restrooms, etc.). Keeping all of this in mind, would it be acceptable to practice nonviolent civil disobedience by violating just laws to cause a discussion on unjust practices? For example, if it happened that public buses systematically avoided neighborhoods with high minority populations, would someone like Martin Luther King, Jr. support breaking curfews at parks (which are usually in place for safety reasons) in order to draw attention to the prejudicial practices of the public transportation system? Why or why not? Breaking a curfew is a non-violent act and it is aimed at creating a dialogue on an unjust practice, so does doing this fit with the idea that “nonviolence demands that the means we use must be as pure as the ends we seek”? Assume that park curfews are, in fact, just laws. ) You have a 750 word limit. 2) Expand on and improve your arguments presented in your paragraph, especially in light of what we have read and discussed since the paragraph was due, so you MUST include discussions of at least one idea from a Lesson not covered in the paragraph. I will be looking for arguments that are much more complete than what was presented in the paragraphs. 3) You must use TWO external resources in this paper (instead of one).
