Besides, the short periods of rests, also called recovery takes a maximum of 30 minutes (though it can be longer most circumstances it is uncommon for longer than 30 minutes). Furthermore, according to Tucker, the goal of high-intensity interval training to recover enough such that one can go hard again particularly during the next round of work interval. High-intensity interval training as most other physical activities has advantages and disadvantages. To begin with high-intensity training as a physical activity is performed at a level which invokes hard breathing, feelings of discomfort and high heart rates. Besides, it takes high levels consumption of oxygen. In addition, doing too much for too soon can lead to excessive muscle soreness and, even an in extreme cases of rhabdomyolysis (the breakdown of muscle fibers that enter the bloodstream and poison the kidneys).
