As a result one of the major competencies that every counsellor or social worker needs is the ability to understand the diversity and the impact that it makes in the life of clients and the major issues that different clients face. The importance of delivering culturally competent counselling services is to ensure that clients gain much comfort by understanding that professionals that are there to help them understand their cultural needs that need to be observed and respected (Collins & Arthur 2010). Using Jose’s case as an illustration the assignment below will present an assessment of the overall background and culture of Jose and how the two aspects define the life and counselling with the aim of improving his ability to make positive decisions.
