The Surprising Solution to Workplace Diversity

Arwa Mahdawi’s TED Talk on workplace diversity presents some solutions that are useful in dealing with workplace diversity-related issues. This reflection paper will focus on three aspects that stand out from the TED Talk. These aspects include discrimination, organizational performance, and solutions to diversity-related issues. Any mention of the word diversity within a workplace setting evokes a similar set of feelings and images among people. Diversity has often been linked to discrimination, a subject that makes everyone uncomfortable. The final and probably most significant take away from the TED Talk was the speakers’ approach to possible solutions that can end the rut diversity finds itself. Most organizations depend on their Human Resource department to deal with issues related to diversity and foster it within the workforce.
