Effects of Eating Disorders on Body Image Name Date Introduction Eating disorders are so common in the contemporary society such that for every 1 out of 100 students struggle with this condition. Annually thousands of youths develop eating disorders or problems with eating weight or body image. Eating disorders are cognitive as much as they are physical problems. They symbolize extremes in ways of thinking and eating. There are two main eating disorders; Anorexia and Bulimia. Anorexic people have weight gain fears as well as a distorted view of their body shape and size. They are dangerously underweight as they eat very little. Bulimic people tend to binge eat then compensate in ways such as throwing up or exercising every time so as to prevent weight gain. These conditions go along with other problems such as depression anxiety stress and even substance abuse.
