Analysis with Theories Paper Part 1: The Psychoanalytic Theory (Example)

Document Preview:

The Psychoanalytic Theory Student’s Name Course Institution/Affiliation Lecturer Date “Blow’ is a typical drug syndicate movie that tends to follow all the conventions associated with films about drugs. Directed by Ted Demme the movie was released in 2001 and follows the drug syndicates of the 1960s that introduced cocaine selling to the American streets. The film follows the life of George Jung in his drug expeditions from the time he lived with his parent in Weymouth Massachusetts when George was still ten years old. As an adult George is introduced to Derek Foreal a marijuana dealer where with his friend Tuna he makes a lot of money. He moves his business to Boston following a tip from Kevin a student who tells him of the demand for the drug in the city. Soon he begins to buy the drug directly from Mexico before he is arrested and jailed for effect of the chemicals induced while psychoanalysis considers the problem from the motivation of the subconscious. The fact that this theory is often referred to as the talking theory implies that the administration of the therapy involves letting the patient talk freely in order to analyze the state of their minds (Carducci 2015). In line with this it would be easier to diagnose the conflicts within the subconscious mind of the patient. In modern days the psychoanalytic theory is used to explain the dynamics of the personality and its development in line with treatment. References Burger J. M. (2008). Personality.
