Student’s name Instructor Course Date Response to the Hurricane Harvey Hurricane Harvey is the second largest hurricane in the United States after hurricane Katrina in regards to the cost of the disaster to the economy. Harvey was initially a typical weak August tropical storm that was forming over the Bay of Campeche did turn into category four hurricanes before rushing to the state of Texas. The cyclone camped in Texas for four days which seemed like years for the residents. The hurricane brought about heavy historical rainfalls that were way over 60 inches from the ground in the southern part of Texas. The cyclone was the cause of 68 casualties in Texas from the direct effects of already brought forward a million or more dollars to help in the relief efforts. A unique case can be made of Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt who led a campaign to increase the efforts of people and by September 15th he had raised 37 million dollars. The private sector was a vital component in saving the lives of the people of these states primarily in offering relief food to them. These circumstances highlight the essence of the local state federal government cooperation with the citizens of the US in the management of disasters.
