Moreover, respiratory therapists are expected to be objective and be able to initiate treatment to the patients based on logic and scientific data. Critical thinking enables the respiratory therapist to evaluate and make quick but correct decisions that are evidence based. It has been demonstrated that accuracy is increasingly vital to the respiratory therapists as they are able to make decisions in relation to ethical maters (Kathy and Boggs, 2011). This saves time and prevents unnecessary medical errors that would compromise the patient’s care (Hess, Maclntyre, Galvin and Mishoe, 2016).
