Student Name Instructor Course Date Field Report 1 There are various microclimate parameters such as direct and diffuse solar radiation levels on both vertical and horizontal surfaces surface temperatures wind direction and speed and air in most urban areas. These parameters are influenced differently by the attributes of urban textures which then show the need for providing microclimatic information and even using this information in building design stages. Tall buildings in urban areas tend to create their microclimate either by channeling strong winds to the ground level or overshadowing large areas. Furthermore each location has a different microclimate from the other areas depending on the above factors. Hence this research paper will explore the importance of understanding the influence of the built environment on the microclimate. Various configurations and layout of buildings cause variations in during the day and release it at night. Such information helps us to determine how these buildings will be structured or the types of technologies they could adopt so that they do not cause negative effects. In summary it is important to understand that various microclimatic parameters are highly influenced by the particular attributes of urban textures and even buildings within the urban area. Hence acquiring information about these built-in structures helps in making strategic design decisions. These buildings may have some repercussions in the future and it is important to know in what ways so as to prepare in advance for any safety nets that may be required. “Works Cited” Chatman Daniel G. “Residential choice the built environment and non-work travel: evidence Using new data and methods.” Environment and Planning A 41.5 (2009): 1072-1089.
