The rise of Political Islam in Middle East
Their concept of freedom and liberty are heavily anchored in the Islamic teachings in order to appeal to the masses more than the opponents (Halliday 198). Considering that human beings respond to appeals of the leaders, socialization and the global illusions of their time, leaders who have mastered the art of twisting their political messages to appear as they promote the will of Allah have had greater success than their opponents. In addition, globalization has in a similar fashion contributed to the spread of political Islam in the region. It has espoused the locals’ belief of “western” hostility to the peoples of the region (Halliday 220). The fact that the international arena has been dominated by western countries for a very long time has been used by leaders has a glaring evidence of western domination.
