Balko criticizes the habit of instituting and implementing laws whenever social problems arise. The author also raises questions about the enforceability of the rules and the capability of state officers to apply them. According to him, there are many grey areas involved, but punishment should be swift and hard for those found culpable of texting while driving, he then suggests higher fines and penalties. According to my view, texting while driving is a dangerous habit that needs to be nipped in the bud. The act endangers both the lives of the driver and passengers if available, as such stringent action should be taken for those found guilty of such actions while driving. Therefore, the information makes one think if texting is solely responsible for the high number of road accidents or other factors exist that contribute to the number of accidents on the roads.
