How the archetypes are adapted to the values of modern culture in the movie Disney movie Hercules (Example)

Case Study of Disney’s Hercules Course Name Student’s Name Date Adaptation of Archetypes to Modern Culture Mythological Hero The mythological heroes are the most prevalent archetype portrayed in many movies and they have been adapted to fit the values of the modern day society. The mythological hero served as a source of hope and was the answer to human shortcomings when dealing with difficult problems. A mythological hero also serves as a reflection of man’s psyche. The myth enables man to confer his thoughts emotions and plans onto the unknown. By doing this the unknown acquired a comprehensible appearance to man. The mythological hero was also a role model. The hero served as a template for how man should live. The hero had superhuman attributes and had a link with the gods thus giving him abilities beyond normal human beings. The heroes were usually men who had to go in an interesting manner. The myths are relevant since they capture the follies of ancient man which modern man still commits. Man needs myths in order to give meaning to his existence. It gives him some satisfaction to imagine that the randomness of it all has a destiny to it. References Burchfield A. E. (2013).
