TB Screening Tests (Student Name) (Professor`s Name) (Institution) (Date) TB Screening Tests T.B is one of infectious disease that is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its primary target is the lungs however it may also affect other areas of the body such as the Central nervous system bones urinary tract and other organs and screening thus is helpful in determining whether a person has the mycobacterium bacteria invasion. The screening tests are used to measure the body's immune response to antigens which are derived from this bacteria which can either be directly through skin reaction to the tuberculin skin test or can be indirect with the interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) test of the blood. The major objective of the screening tests is to reduce the mortality and morbidity. Screening tests have two outcomes either negative or positive (Siddiqi 2015). The screening tests have two characteristics i.e. specificity and sensitivity.Sensitivity refers have low sensitivity i.e. they will detect people with the TB or /and low specificity that is correctly detecting people without TB.TB screening is thus very important and it should be very rapid in order to correctly diagnose and then execute effective treatment and for this to be achieved the specificity and sensitivity of each test are very important to be noted before engaging in the test so that to use those which will correctly and effectively diagnose TB.
