M. For the schools to be successful, there is need to work with other agencies that can keep tabs on the youth outside the school environment. This means also the inclusion of community-based interventions in school. membership gives prestige status among friends, give chance for excitement through drugs and immorality, and economic opportunities through sell of drugs to make money), social, economic and cultural factors pushing the youth into gangs (such as getting protection from another gang in the neighborhood, having minority status in society, search for sense of identity and solution to social adjustment issues, and even neighborhood traditions of the neighborhood gang) (Johnstone, 1983; Curry, Ball & Decker, 1996; Clark, 1991; Campbell, 1984b; and Baccaglini, 1993). Kids are also driven into drugs by lack of parental monitoring, friendships with delinquent peers, positive attitudes towards delinquency and negative life events.
