Through successful management, the Anglo-Australian firm has grown by tapping the available opportunities. Presently, the firm is experiencing a high growth phase and anticipates hiring about 500 workers within a year. The success of the firm is not guaranteed; therefore, the human resources manager needs to identify the skills and performance profiles of the current employees for possible future redundancies. It is crucial to analyze Rio Tinto human resource five functions and determine the most critical themes that will enhance the firm realize its goals. Thus, this report aims at developing a possible DBMS for Rio Tinto while identifying the functionalities to be integrated.

For instance, in 1962, Rio Tinto merged with Consolidated Zinc, an Australian firm, giving both firms a better asset base and increased bargaining power. It faces significant competition from BHP Billiton; others include Chinalco and Alcoa. Rio Tinto, like any other global company, is vulnerable to external economic forces (Bream, Burgess & Saigol, 2008). Analysis of hris in Rio Tinto The firm's operations were adversely affected across the globe since its operations are widespread in six continents; the human resources management was forced to downsize the workforce. Nevertheless, since most of the activities have recovered, the human resources processes have been revamped with the highly skilled employees and members of the management team in respective divisions being retained. By analyzing the data stored in the hris, the firm ensures the employees grow through being offered being provided with career development opportunities.

System Consideration and the Design hris In Rio Tinto, the mine engineers need to be trained in career planning and occupational health and safety, which are two of the five management functions. The DBMS developed should ensure the hris ensures the miners are aware of the importance of having a career plan that should be scheduled. The career plan will enable miners to learn the necessary training and education to allow them to climb the corporate ladder. Among the minors, despite Rio Tinto maintaining health records in its database, the firm needs to ensure that cases of deaths attributed to the Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO), a mental condition, which is prevalent in Australia are reduced (Perry & Rowe, 2015). As a responsible corporate entity, the design will ensure that the firm has data regarding the health and welfare of the employees across the globe is updated in real time.

The data should also be analyzed by scholars who should be consulted to provide feasible solutions to the firm. Regarding the career growth, the employees should be provided with a database that shows them the nature of the job market and changes that one needs to make to realize their career goals. The hris, through the DBMS, should share with employees make sure that employees are always updated about their schedule of the career plans and be advised accordingly in reference to the changes within the industry (Gill, 2008). The Hris Functions Using the DBMS created, the hris will enhance the employees build their careers appropriately while the firm guarantees the employees’ occupational health and safety are given priority through the use of five key components.

Maintenance- this is the process of ensuring that the software is upgraded periodically to make it remain relevant without which, it becomes obsolete. Change Management Strategy Following the development and the implementation of DBMS software, the will limited changes in Rio Tinto. The changes will include the training of the human resources management on how to use the advanced software to make certain that it is proficiently used to achieve its goals. Through that, the employees will realize their career goals, while the firm will enjoy increased productivity from a motivated firm.
