Those children whose parents have been jailed are likely to be 6 or 8 times more likely to have a criminal lifestyle during their early life. A recent research which was conducted by National Institute of Corrections showed established that there is the likelihood of children whose parents have been jailed to develop stress, stigmatization, and psychological trauma. When these challenges are added to the problems which they were already experiencing e. g. poverty, abuse, violence among others, these children display a wide range of behavior. In contrast to the program which is offered in Brownsville, in Texas City, there are programs which aim to assist those who are mentally challenged. There are several services which are offered here including screening, intervening in case of any crisis, evaluation and assessing the psychiatric patients, management of medications and coordination services.

They have a specific program which focuses more on the youth mental health, those who are at risk of developing mental challenges as a result of getting injustice system of juveniles. In central Texas, there is a program which focuses on assisting the youths who are at risk of developing bad behavior as a result of their parents who has been jailed. Some of the services which are offered in this program include services which counsel the children, the youth an also families. This camp is for the children who are aged between 10-15 years whose parents have been incarcerated. Various church activities which include, praise and worship, prayers, studying of the word. In addition, there is also physical activities such as horseback swimming and skills which are vital to growth and development.
