Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date “The portrayal of the experience of people of color in America” Introduction Over the decades racial equality has been an issue of concern in America. Minority groups such as the blacks have experienced segregation and other acts against humanity. Before the rise of activists and human rights movements African-Americans were subjected to racial injustices like slavery and limited opportunities to job opportunities and education. Furthermore the housing industry and schools were structured in such a way that they separated the whites from the blacks. Order Description:

Some would say America achieved racial equality with the civil rights acts of the 1960s. Others would say that the formal equality of American laws are illusory since they are not brought to fruition in practice and do not rectify racial injustices in American society. Examine the portrayal of the experience of people of color in America within August Wilson's Fences, Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, Charles Chestnutt's "The Sheriff's Children," and Langston Hughes' Harlem. Explore what these stories illuminate about racial justice in America. In the essay, make sure you have: 1. A cohesive thesis as the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. 2. Cohesive body paragraphs where the claim or topic sentence (1st sentence) is supported by multiple quotes from various authors. Do not separate paragraphs by authors discussed. Your goal is to write a synthesis paper where the authors are put into conversation with each other. 3. Never use personal pronouns, contractions, or slang. 4. Always cite your facts using MLA style: (author last name page number) = (Wilson 167) 5. Do not repeat yourself. These stories are multi-faceted and dramatically different tales. Your essay should not be redundant or repetitive. Requirement: 5 pages
