In this proposal, I will address nurse shortage and poor job satisfaction. These are matters that directly affect day-day activities in our department and demand urgent attention. Staff shortage Shortage of working staff has continued to be a challenge in the hospital. Nurses employed in the hospital are not enough to serve all patients seeking treatment. The ancillary department thus remains understaffed with the nurses available exposed to a higher workload and extreme fatigue. Teamwork has been an issue in the department and when coupled with nurse shortage, it becomes very difficult. Poor job satisfaction Satisfying the needs of each and every employed nurse is difficult thus most nurses are bound to poor job satisfaction. This may be further contributed to by job related stress, low nurse morale due to poor workplace conditions, underpayment and lack of productivity.
