Henry a Chinese helps his girlfriend Keiko by taking her photos and hiding them at the bottom of his dresser drawer. In chapter 25 the father comes to realize that Henry is actually in love with Keiko and thus scanning his room comes across the photos. He hates his own son for relating with a Japanese. He tells the son that the Japanese are actually enemies of America. When he learns of the son's constant mail exchange with the Japanese girl the father intercepts them and destroys them making the son to think that her friend doesn't want to write to him. Also when the father to Henry a position in office or in the society because of their gender. Unlike racism which involves thoughts and not really actions discrimination is described through the action enacted against a class of people. unlike prejudice which is about biased thoughts such as associated someone with theft because they are of a certain race discrimination goes beyond thinking and materializes the thoughts into actions. As for Keiko's case discrimination is materialized when the state orders all Japanese people to be taken together into the concentration camp. The thought behind is that they are terrorists and their coast is turned into an army zone depriving them of the freedom of movement and forcing them into the hinterlands. Discrimination relates closely to segregation in which people are physically separated from one another. The Chinese boy has to stay away from his Japanese girlfriend and the government sets the Japanese under strict surveillance. [...]
