Henry a Chinese helps his girlfriend Keiko by taking her photos and hiding them at the bottom of his dresser drawer. In chapter 25 the father comes to realize that Henry is actually in love with Keiko and thus scanning his room comes across the photos. He hates his own son for relating with a Japanese. He tells the son that the Japanese are actually enemies of America. When he learns of the son's constant mail exchange with the Japanese girl the father intercepts them and destroys them making the son to think that her friend doesn't want to write to him.
