The characters of the plays are different and they all have different goals in their lives (Martin & Zackariah 64). Therefore, in this paper the discussion will be based on the differences between the roles that devils and gods play in the Oedipus and Faustus and the similarity in the roles that devils and gods play in the Oedipus and Faustus play. Differences between the Roles That Devils and Gods Play In the Oedipus and Faustus Plays In the two plays Faustus and Oedipus devils and gods play different roles in the society. In the play the Faustus, Lucifer appears direct in the play, his demeanor and words resembles a boss supervising his employees. Devils and gods in the play the Faustus are considered as supernatural beings that causes troubles in the society.

Devils and god is this play are considered to be very harmful in the society for example the Apollo god is perceived by the reader to be very evil in that they destroyed the life of a man who was innocent together with his family (Scott 43). They also does away with the Oedipus by giving power of prophecy to people and controlling his fate. Similarity in the roles that devils and gods play in both the Oedipus and Faustus play Devils and gods in the two plays have almost similar roles in both Oedipus and the Faustus play. In most cases according to the culture of the ancient Greece and the Greek literature, the roles of devils and gods in many play wrights are responsible for the controlling human destiny.
