These social influences can provide advantages and disadvantages in the outcome of any given decision. The discussion herein elucidates these advantages and disadvantages. Advantages of Group Decision Making Group decision making has five possible advantages. The first advantage is that there is a greater pool of knowledge (Kinicki & Williams, 2017). When a decision is made by a group of individuals, they have a large pool of information from which to draw guidance as compared to a decision made by one person. Disadvantages of Group Decision Making As with every good thing, group decision making also has some disadvantages. The disadvantages of group decision making can be traced to how the members of a group interact. For instance a few members of the group may dominate the proceedings, which results in other members of the group feeling intimidated (Kinicki & Williams, 2017).
