Name Professor Course code Date Comparing/Contrasting Kleough “The riddle of Peggy Mountain” and Morgan’s “Of Slender Frame and Delicate Appearance” articles in relation to women and authority Women play a pivotal and crucial role in any society ranging from performing domestic chores to more outgoing managerial roles women have expanded the horizons to venture into what was historically perceived to be masculine responsibilities. These two articles have explored the concept of women and authority in the colonial British North America specifically Canada and the Irish society. Some of their perceptions on this weighty subject are discussed by both authors. However; Morgan seems to have minimally shed light on this issue as opposed to Kleough who has explored the concept of women and authority in detail. Therefore it is evident there is more contrast in these articles than similarities. It is evident in both articles that women used their authority in deployed their authority on a myriad of reasons. Some for national building other for self-gains. “The riddle of Peggy Mountain” brings out the various way women deploy their authority. For instance defense of personal or family property self-defense in case of physical threat and to solicit gains or favors among other reasons In conclusion Keough and Morgan’s articles explore the concept of woman and authority in the historical context. However; “the riddle of Peggy Mountain” edifies this controversial issue in a much better way by exhaustively exploring the subject issue. Additionally their work is indispensable as it provides a good background on women and authority.
