Adverse situations lead to the creation of great nurse leaders who learn from every emergency that arises, even when they are least expected. The characteristics of a good nurse leader in my opinion are, an awareness of self, understanding their own strengths and that of the teams they manage as well as their own and team weaknesses. Excellent leadership in nursing also involves being able to rise above the challenges and situations to provide guidance for the team, selflessness, providing honest and timely feedback to the teams (Carragher & Gormley, 2016). Proper communication and problem-solving abilities also contribute to making an excellent leader in nursing (Anonson et al. Not everybody is born leader. Nurses face different emotions which could range from good to bad.

Poor emotions in leaders consequently impact their teams leading to poor outcomes and collaborations. Through my experience, I notably know of a charge nurse Jesus, who is excellent in her work. He demonstrates great compassion in helping the members of the team he supervises to attain their best level of productivity through providing emotional support, technical advice as well as advocating for patients in difficult situations. His emotional competencies are amazing; he maintains a high spirit at work which is contagious and one that creates a strong sense of enthusiasm for the team bolstering the team’s performance. , & Berry, L.
