This essay is aimed at unveiling this three estate model in the English Medieval society. Basically, the hierarchal composition is made of those who pray, the rulers and lastly those who work. Through the poem, we would learn about the manner in which the author depicts investigations on how the society was being run in middle age. There is also a vast exploration of the social features and responsibility in addition to how they are anticipated to address and conduct themselves as required by their social class. In the Chaucer’s general prologue to the tales, one would realize that there is an explicit elaboration of the societal impurity with corruption being one of the core. Whilst offering the projected order of the community, the author also tries to unleash the dereliction of duty and frauds which obviously lead to immorality and spiritual betrayal through diverse character delineation.

The three ideal pilgrims as early mentioned would be the knight, the parson and lastly the plowman; Chaucer had an absolute assessment of these characters. According to Chaucer, this three have the perfect representations of the three social class, nobility, and clergy and for prolongation reasons, there is the peasantry. The Knight represents the noble men and their chivalric principles that accords them absolute right to administer and accountability to look after the society (Chaucer et al, 43). The constructive features that are accredited to the knight illustrate the ideal representations of the nobleness. In the Chaucer’s explicatory rendering, a good number of exemplary features are endorsed by the plowman. This is because it is the very person who works hard and meticulously not only for himself but also his neighbors, in particular, the individuals who are in dire need and of course the church.

Consequently, the plowman is a complete representation of his societal class, the usual commoners in the society in regards to medieval perspective, flawlessly. The three that is of the plowman, the parson and knight are exemplary attest that the pilgrims work for the society in a varied number of ways as expected. Thus, the aforementioned are the perfect representation of the three estate model in an extremely efficient manner. All this represents the looseness of the society during the middle age. In conclusion, Geoffrey Chaucer has carefully utilized the tradition of the three estates model proficiently in his tales. It is up to satisfaction the way the trio of the estates and ridiculing the social wrongdoings emanating from dishonesty in this model.
