Summary: First, the Egyptian Love Poems demonstrated the power of love over the will of the people by use of personification as well as metaphors. Within the poem, the heart of the narrator is personified and therefore, viewed as the main force that controls his actions: "If she but gives me a glance, my limbs will regain vigor, If she speaks, I'll grow strong" (78).
