Document Preview:

Snow falling on cedars Snow falling on cedars is a renowned novel whose story revolves around an American Japanese Kabuo Miyamoto. Kabuo is charged with murdering Carl a white man whom they fished together. The case takes three days but the entire story covers the pre-war period World War II and the periods following the end of war. Although it covers all these three periods the story in the novel moves forth and back in time. This novel has become renown because of its efforts to explain the effects of war and the issues surrounding race and human motivation. The events characters attitudes and the relationship between the people in the novel give rise to various themes. These themes include racism hatred injustice and fairness. However Racism stands out to be the most repetitive and strongly emphasized theme in the novel. This paper will therefore look deep into racism death. Ishmael decides to do what is right and provide the truth about what happened in the night of Carl’s death. This proves that facts are never complete in a case especially where death is involved. Therefore facts are very important before making any decisions or judgments. The community in the novel as well as any other communities in real life must use reason and facts whenever they are making judgment so that they don’t end up hurting others.
