Taking this into consideration, it is vital that healthcare practitoners, more so nurses follow the required protocol whenever they insert the line to ensure that the line continues being sterile and CLABSI does not take place. With that in mind, our main focus in this project will be to determine the problems that health practioners encounter in the bid to implement the prevention and reduction of CLABSI outside the intensive care unit by collaboratively involving a number of hospitals. This kind of hospital collaborative aiming to prevent and reduce cases of CLABSI have recorded significant success over the years. However,conducting the same process outside the ICU may require an alternative approach hence it is important to discuss the challenges of reducing and preventing CLABSI outside the ICU through a multihospital collaborative project.

The initiative The multihospital collaboration for the reduction and prevention of CLABSI outside the ICU has taken place in the state of New York. This varied buy-ins may be an indicator that the health practitioners are not completely dedicated to ensuring that the projects’ goals are achieved. This kind of attitude may be hindrance to the multihospital collaborative long term and short term project goals. Secondly, it is evident that some nurses who are supposed to be the “champions” in the fight against cases of CLABSI opt to avail themselves in units with higher rates whereas other units or hospitals elsewhere put their focus and dedication on other priorities other than the main goal which is reduction and prevention of CLABSI outside the ICU.
