Errors in Inquiry on Rape Allegations Against FSU Jameis Winston” in The New York Times by Walt Bogdanich

Read the article in the link and write following the instructions that I give here: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/04/16/sports/errors-in-inquiry-on-rape-allegations-against-fsu-jameis-winston.html Instruction: Don’t forget readerly process: Did you get distracted? Where? Why? Did you look up words? Start getting confused at a certain point? Get lost (in a good way) in the message? Why? Don’t forget writerly mindfulness: What would you use and not use? I would suggest including some good techniques (I wouldn’t have you read something if it were [Trump voice] “A total loser. Sad.”). Also, just because you would change something, doesn’t mean it’s “bad”—all writing is subjective, but some decisions are better than others in general. Good students use models for guidance and a basic understanding. If you want to move beyond a “satisfactory” designation, craft YOUR own response with YOUR own voice. I don’t want to see scripted, formulaic, or regurgitated writing; I want to see your writing. Make it your own. Remember, the model is ONE WAY based on ONE specific text. It takes some practice, but rather than summarizing the piece, I want to hear more about your reading process. walk me through step by step your encounter with this piece. Was it difficult to read? Challenging? Easy? Boring? Did you have to look up words? Stop to re-read? Force yourself to quit texting/getting distracted? Were you really engaged and enthralled by the piece? Why? How did you overcome obstacles? You had a tiny bit in there on the fourth paragraph but that was it. As far writerly process, critique the piece of writing. Comment on things you like/dislike and why—connect them to your own writing process and ideas.
