J. was born with a condition of hard hearing which made him face a lot of challenges during his time in school. He also has a cerebral palsy condition which further worsens his situation. The condition has made him develop a serious problem of poor coordination. He was born in a family of two before his parents divorced. His father re-married siring two other siblings. J. has one brother in his mother’s side and two sisters in his father’s side. J. has been raised by the two parents although his mother has been the closest person to him. He has not been in a position to get fatherly attention as his biological father is an army officer and has been away him gain confidence and become used to starting conversations with new people. -Other than my approach are there other types of approach that can help J develop his social skills for starting conversations with new people and new groups? 3). Social workers are known for their social character. The profession teaches people how to interact with other people and help them solve their issue. As a social worker one has to develop social skills as an important qualification of being a one. Being a social worker I have the necessary social skills to interact with new people with being shy. On the other hand J has a problem of starting conversations with new people and new groups. He feels pressured when compelled to approach strangers and feels shy to do so. What J lacks is what am best qualified for. -Is this the reason for J’s referral to me? [...]
