Name Institution Course Date O'Connor stories/Response Paper Literature Introduction O’Connor has narrated several stories that are different in some ways. Among his stories are;   "A Good Man is Hard to Find” “Good Country People” and “Everything that Rises Must Converge.” In these stories there are common themes that O’Connor has focused on in his narration. Each story illustrates different literary devices based on the message or idea of focus. Such themes include the theme of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is the aspect of pretending to be different or good from what a person really is as identified in some of the characters in O’Connor stories. This response paper seeks to explore the expression of hypocrisy in all the three O'Connor stories. The paper looks at how O'Connor presents the character in these stories as having hypocrisy in racial and religion aspects among others. "A Good Man is Hard to Find” only priding themselves to be good country people and yet they need to be recognized for what they are not by others. On the other hand in “Everything That rises Must converge” Julian is a major character in the story and whom O’Connor uses to pass his message about hypocrisy as he accuses his mother wrongly and humiliates her for the nature of life she was reared in just to realize the truth when it is too late. Indeed O’Connor is clearly trying to narrate his stories in a way that enables the audience to understand the hypocritical behavior in different characters and in diverse incidences. Therefore the theme of hypocrisy is commonly used in the three stories and makes the narration interesting and attractive to the audience.
