Student’s Name Instructor’s Name Course Title Date Policy on Disposable Plastic Shopping Bags Since their emergence in 1940 plastic bags have become increasingly popular for industrial and consumer use. The use of these disposable plastic shopping bags may appear to be convenient but over time they have emerged to be a massive source of pollution in the environment. As per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) research disposable plastic shopping bags used worldwide within a year ranges between 500 billion and 1 trillion (Anderson). On average plastic bags are normally used on the short-term for about 12 minutes but they persist in landfills and marine waters among other places for thousands of years because they are not readily biodegradable (Anderson). By description plastics are inexpensive lightweight and durable materials made from plastic. They are generated using fossil fuel and also demand a huge amount of water and energy for manufacturing approved the measures. The issue could be that people are not yet educated as to the reason why the need to abandon plastic bags for safer options such as reusable bags. For this reason I propose outreach and education before the initiation of the regulations as a new policy and means of improving the effectiveness of the plastic bag ban and fee imposition laws. Order Description:

PLEASE READ THE FLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! Choose an environmental problem currently affecting the United States. Any issue will do – water rights, logging, fracking, etc. – but if you are choosing an issue that is already regulated, be prepared to discuss the pros and cons of the current regulations, and ways to improve upon them. You should start thinking about your topic early on and submit your idea to me by February 13th so that I can provide guidance for things you will need to consider in your paper. You will write a 5 page paper (double spaced) outlining the problem and your proposed policy solution. Regardless of the issue you choose, you must explain the basic science and why it merits government intervention, the costs and benefits of the policy solution you propose, and the consequences associated with that policy solution. (Note: choosing no policy is a legitimate policy choice, but will require creative defense!). Defend your policy solution based on what we have learned about the nuances involved in solving environmental problems. I will provide a detailed grading rubric before the first draft is due so that you can be sure to structure your paper appropriately. just contact me for more details Thank you so much
