Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course: Date: Effect of Fundamental religious beliefs on Saudi Women Introduction Gender inequality has been a major issue particularly among Muslim nations. Many of such nations have rules and laws that forbid women from actively pursuing other things other than staying at home and becoming wives. Majority of countries that have the highest rate of Gender inequality are Islam nations among them Saudi Arabia. Saudi is one of the countries performing poorly when it comes to addressing issues of gender inequality. They have laws that forbid women from driving or even walking around without their male guardian. Some have attributed these vices to the Islamic religion as a primary determinant of this oppression. However this has not always been the case. The religion has nothing to do with the oppression but everything to do with the people that interpret it. In order to address this discrimination otherwise. Several strides have been made to ensure that the women rights are being taken into consideration with leaders given them a stride. A lot needs to be done and it can only be done when the world and Islam countries work together in agreement. Works Cited Desiree Bryan. Women in the Arab world: A case of Religion or Culture. Order Description:

Research Paper Instructions Topic: The effect of fundamentalist religious beliefs (ideology) a b o u t w o m e n on the status of women (or sexual minorities – LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender]) in one particular location/culture/fundamentalist religion. A good definition of fundamentalism is: "A . . . religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles [Tradition], by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism" (www.thefreedictionary. com Fundamentalists make up subgroups within the major religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc. Technical Details of Final Paper: * Minimum size: 5 full pages of text * Normal size font (like Times New Roman or Calibri at 11 or 12 points) * Double spaced * 1 inch margins on all four sides * 5 (or more) legitimate sources In-Text Citations & Works Cited Page: Proper citation of sources in the text (footnote or in-text citations) o Cite your sources when you quote them (use quotation marks around their words) o Cite your sources when you give information in your own words (no quotation marks) that came from a source Proper Works Cited or Bibliography page (see my example document next to this on Blackboard) Steps to Constructing Your Paper: 1. Pick a setting – a. Pick one geographic location b. Pick one form of fundamentalist religion 2. Research what the (fundamentalist) religious sect you have chosen believes and teaches about women (or sexual minorities) 3. Research how they treat women (or sexual minorities) a. Are there any barriers to career choices or achievements? b. Can a woman (or a LGBT person) make any choice a male (or straight person) can make? c. Is there physical danger for some women or sexual minorities in that religion and culture? 4. Draw a connection between their beliefs and the treatment/status of women (or sexual minorities) Reminder: You are writing about the effect of fundamentalist ideology on the status (or lived experience) of women (cis- or transgender). You must narrow the topic. 1. So which country will you write about? 2. Which religious sect (which fundamentalist subgroup within which religion) will you write about? 3. How do their beliefs affect the women (or LGBT people) in their group? *Be sure to give your paper the structure of an obvious Intro/Findings/Conclusion.
