Lamar's talks about peer pressure and the power that peer pressure has on an individual and how that pressure can influence an individual. In this song, Lamar's takes us through his journey while under the influence of peer pressure, in this journey Lemar's tries to help us understand the way he learned peer pressure in a hard and weird way. Lemar's hip-hop songs ooze the theme of gang violence; drug use and sexuality portray the true picture of life as experienced by the black people who are deeply filled by the desire for identity(Apol & Brandon 33). In essence, peer pressure is like a poison that if not handled well can cause one's life. The song uses poetic and narrative techniques to articulate the theme of being trapped in some special ways.

“The Message” by Grandmaster Flash. How it uses poetic and narrative techniques to articulate the being trapped theme. Captivity is the state in which someone is not in the position to get out of the situation quickly. This at long last has an adverse impact on the person undergoing it. The two songs apply the poetic and techniques of narratives that articulates the theme of getting trapped into the culture of this hip-hop. The song also explains on a lady that went to the city and got ditty; she could not make alone. She was supposed to depend on another person before her stability. This proofs another form of captivity. Children have also been captivated by several things that have enslaved them and cannot get out of the habit quickly.
