This week's DB is going to focus on the debate over the new Constitution. Use the Document Set 4 and information from the lessons to educate yourself about the crisis of the 1780s, the reasons for the calling of a constitutional convention, and the ensuing debate over the new Constitution. This is not a research assignment. Please use the assigned sources. Next, you are going to write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper responding to either the Patrick Henry or James Madison's document (from Doc. Set 4). You are writing the letter from the perspective of someone who has lived through the Revolution in the 18th century. The purpose of the letter is to persuade others--and especially the representatives of your states--to your position either in favor of ratification or in opposition to ratification of the new Constitution. It's a letter to the editor.
