A are the largest in the world. Obesity continues to grow in the United States. Out of three American men two of them are considered to be obese or overweight, but rates are higher among women. U. S. The highest overweight percentages in the entire population of the U. S. A were recorded as follows 63. 8% adults in 2008, 39. 4% in 1997, 56. The current estimates are that approximately 35 percent of the adult population and 17 percent of children in America are suffering from obesity. Every segment of a nation is affected by obesity but resources are the most affected. It increases the risk of most chronic diseases in people. This epidemic has grown gradually over time. The government and public health have directed efforts to reduce or prevent the issue of obesity but there has been no evidence of success.

The government should be on the forefront to fight against obesity since it has adverse effects on its citizens and nation’s resources. The government of U. S should be responsible and show how parents can help preschoolers get over their junk foods, how lactating-mothers should eat, and how people can make healthy meals. The government would not be obsessed with taxing Coke and Pepsi and penalizing lower-income individuals; they should instead show parents and guardians how to get tap water or milk at the dinner table instead. On the contrary, most people think that the government has no business in telling its citizens what they can or cannot eat (Collins 162). Unfortunately, it is significant to understand that plentiful foods do not result in good health conditions.

Most people are not capable of making relevant choices. The hurried lifestyles of most American citizens make them extremely fast, and eating is no exception. They eat fast, but fast does not translate to useful. It is recommended for the government to have a say in the diet of its citizens. The public health and the government have been on the forefront to prevent and reduce the high rates of obesity (Rippe 50). Obesity is a very expensive disease and it has resulted in the government of America using most of its resources in its control. The government should regulate the diets of its citizens since it is very difficult for people to make healthy food choices. It will not be possible to control obesity and other obesity-related complications without the government fulfilling its responsibilities against obesity.
