In other words, in my academic journey, this course is a complete blessing. It has helped me in more ways than I could comprehend. As the course commenced, I did not have an understanding of basic grammar, style and punctuation. These are key factors especially in developing the art of writing. I learn more about language from my peers through these conversations. It made things easier for me. My friends tended to evoke a certain urge to do better every time I listened to their claims about the meaning of different texts. Diversity in the writing topics and genres given made me all rounded. I gained more experience in various areas and topics. Also, most successful writers are keen readers. I was made to understand the importance of daily reading and the connection between reading and writing throughout this course. Usage of simple language that and can be easily understood by your reader was greatly emphasized. Before and during the beginning of this course I had a tendency of using literary clichés thinking they would capture the attention of my readers. To my surprise, during this course I realised that they are huge turn off to readers.

Until this course, I had a recurrent habit of not citing sources. Now I can write sources for my readers ' future references. When I recall my writing skills before this course, I note that I had adopted the practice of copying and pasting everything from the internet and other sources of information. I didn't recognize the cites or even books of various authors that I got information from. Later on, upon introduction of this course I learnt that I had been commiting plagiarism which is in deed a serious offence.
