Document Preview:

Name Tutor Subject Date Sociological Imagination For one to understand social imagination it is essential to conceptualize its definition according to C. Wright Mills who sees that every individual’s situation borrows the setting from one's history and the adjacent society in which the person lives. Many individuals tend to associate their lives after experiencing certain situations one’s or more than once in their lives. Apparently C. Wright Mills indicates that the situation of life an individual is subjected to is as well necessary since it build’s the individual’s character behavior and values respective on one’s socio-cultural system (Mills 2). The relevance of C. Wright Mills’ theory on ‘threats to human freedom’ became evident after discussing with my neighbor who has been in and out of foster homes despite serving time in a juvenile detention center. Janice has been living in a fatherless home ever since she was three years old. how I can reconstruct myself and become relevant to the society (Mills 150). In actual sense I was not the only person in the same situation and I probably wouldn’t be the last. Even though the common notion of downfall on divorced families still looms in the society exceptional thoughts on how to survive are very detrimental to one’s future. With mills idea I was able to achieve some of my goals. A positive mind on my education made me excel in my studies. Currently am working as an intern at a big corporation while still undertaking my undergraduate studies. If I could have despaired earlier agreeing to the society’s historical perception on certain challenges then I could be in a desperate state. Opportunities are there for taking to any individual who shows just the proper interest. Work Cited Mills C. Wright. The sociological imagination. Oxford University Press 2000. [...]
